I have an offer from Walmart but I'm also interviewing at Meta. I'm midway through the Meta process but there's still a long way to go and I don't want to rush through it unprepared. Both are for a Data Scientist position. Any suggestions on how to deal with a situation like this? Walmart Facebook (Meta)

Analyst 1 is right. You have to play the long game and you have to be prepared for disappointment. You won’t get every job offered to you, just as you won’t get rejected from every job. You just had a bad run.
I just applied for a job (outside the law) for which I got rejected, and I have 40 years experience, 30 of which with AmLaw 20 firms! I allowed myself an hour of self-pity and then I moved on.
You’re due for a win. Hang in there!
Thank you for this. I think this post is my form of "self-pity." LOL. I'll just keep trucking along and hope that something works out!
May be worthwhile to sit down with a mentor figure and do a mock interview - get some unbiased feedback on your interview skills. Found this was one of my difficulties - looking good on paper but apparently coming off as off-putting in interviews.
A3 accepted your DM but won’t let me reply for some reason!
As far as how to get a mentor, it may be worthwhile to see if your local bar association has a program for matching senior attorneys to young attorneys needing mentors.
Alternatively I’d reach out to the heads of the practice groups you belong to/apply to your field at your local bar association - those folks are usually very experienced and eager to chat with interested young attorneys. Added benefit is a respected attorney in your practice area locally knows you’re looking for work and that you have the interest/dedication to put some diligence in, which could generate more leads for work opportunities. Be mindful though of any relationship they may have with your firm, if your current job isn’t aware you’re looking around.
Keep pushing!! You’ll land a job! Job hunting is a marathon! Please don’t be discouraged!

Persist. I think I’ve applied to over 300 jobs in my life, and with persistence, I scored my dream job at a *very* prestigious spot despite mediocre grades. I applied to upwards of 40 clerkships (DJ and MJ, grades won’t go for COA), and I finally got one with a Chief DJ. Persistence. Don’t be disheartened, but do use it as fuel for your hustle.
DM me, new Lit associate position in Tampa opened today. Happy to help.
Sometimes a recruiter gets your application a nudge to get you from application to interview and interview to offer. (Same with internal employee referrals)
I’ve heard Florida is mediocre place to practice law in terms of the quality of attorneys, the culture (untrustworthy) and the comp. For reference, my firm has 2 offices there. Also, key parts of it are likely to be uninhabitable soon due to the impact of rising ocean on the amount of water in the ground/soil underneath homes, office buildings and condo building.
What practice area are you and what market?
I'm at an AM200 in litigation, Midwest. Trying to relocate to Florida.
Have you tried QE?
I feel this on a deep level. Job hunting is a frustrating endeavor.
Wise words from a barber, thank you sharing.
In this market - somethings not adding up…
This^. Lit is very hard and not as busy across the board.

Hi, I do interview coaching and have placed many candidates at top firms, those with bad grades, changing practice areas, lower ranked law firms, etc. DM me if you want help!
