You still might owe out of pocket for taxes in different states (I had to pay $4000 in my home state while getting refunds for $1500 in other states). You don't need to pay any out of pocket expenses if your taxes are done by H&R Block but honestly they suck and I always get more back when I do it myself. The tax prep fee of $600 (this is the fee for H&R Block to prepare your taxes) does become taxable income and you will see that post on a future pay period and be taxed on it.
They gross up that tax prep fee though so you aren't really paying out of pocket.
Which option is better? The STS? Or in-store?
