Go for it. Working from home creating massive vulnerabilities—>demand for security services. They will be selling umbrellas as it rains.
I dropped my two week notice already. Im a risk taker and hope it goes well. Either way, I’m not worried. If all fails, I can always fall back on an federal engineer job making 130k in my area. I’m doubling down on AI though. Many companies say they do it, but not many actually do. It’s time for AI. Many enterprises are starting to mature to be able to collect and store the data needed for AI.
How many employees in the startup?
250 employees, 8000 stock options
Sounds large enough for at least a bit of stability. However, generally there will be a much higher risk for such a mid-sized company compared to a large MNC, so depends how much risk you‘re willing to take. I think the business model would be a deciding factor for me, if you believe it‘s not impacted by corona I‘d go for it, if you think it will be harder to get paying customers due to the crisis I‘d be careful
I think you made the right choice. Even if you spend a year at the start up in AI and shit goes bad , you have that AI experience. Make sure you learn as much as you can in the new gig!
Thank you sir.
Take it. It is a nice pay bump going into a growing space. Most of us on here are more risk averse because we don't feel confident that we can easily return to a 130k/yr job if we lose a startup job. But you apparently have said confidence, so good luck!
What company is it? I might be interested if they're hiring.
Equity? Options?
You lost me at 'start up's. Unless the investors have big pockets, or the client contracts are extremely reliable, this could be risky.
This would be my second startup. To me it’s not so much about big pockets. I think the key factors are having a product that is innovative and solves a problem, and having a passionate team to deliver it to customers. The investors will come after you and the customers will buy if you have those things.
