I am unavailable on weekends. Thank you!
I agree. However, for fun, you could name two weekends that are currently open. But please note that they might become unavailable at any time. And most likely will!

It’s insane. I’d ask them when they’re ready to discuss adjusting your salary reflect part time 7 days a week then.
Simple answer is: “barring an agency extinction event, I am not available on weekends.”
I would say all of them
This started happening to me one time so I marked ALL my weekends as OOO on my calendar. They got the message
I would say I'm not available for weekends. Or that my rate is double for weekend work should the occasional need arise.
Insane. They’re calling them “weekend projects” so that means these are a regular, real thing in their mind. Sounds like a staffing and project management problem. Run.
Yes, just shows that they don't know how to manage so they expect you to be available during weekends. Even in big 4 / acn and strategy consulting where the hours are notoriously bad, you'll never see a manager asking for your weekend availability. 😹. That's just ridiculous.
You tell your manager you are not available on weekends. You don’t give them an explanation. You do not owe that to them/or the company.
This right here! You do not need to explain yourself when taking MFing WEEKENDS OFF or when requesting PTO. Full stop.
“If you could let me know which weekends there are projects you need me to consider working on, I’d like to know in advance so I can plan to take days during that week or the week following to make up for it. Thanks!” OR “did I mention I’m in a wedding every. Single. Weekend. this summer? The post pandemic surge is real! So sorry.”
That’s fair AD1, it was meant to be kind of tongue in cheek, but you do make a good point. I do think there are projects that call for weekend work occasionally: trade shows; consumer events; film festivals etc - but usually the whole team knows we’ll in advance and it’s pre planned.

What’s a weekend project? Are you supposed to do their gardening or build a shed?
“I don’t get paid enough to work on the weekends.”
"My weekends are very valuable, so I would need to charge $XXX more than my usual rate to make it worth my time."...Says the same without insulting the rate you accepted. Also, doing this makes them value your time more and weigh overages of weekend work. 90% of the time the ask becomes less urgent when it costs extra because usually the reason for those asks is bad planning not a better result.
Working on weekends happens but to plan it like this person is is absolutely bonkers. The job market is way too good to stick around a place like that, run run run!
Dear Manager, All of my summer weekends are booked solid. Sincerely, Director.
Please assume all of my weekends are not available.
There’s a chance they’re trying to be accommodating of your plans and think they’re doing a good thing. But even if that’s their intention, it’s a bad message.
Are there certain weekends you’re supposed to be available? Or are you expected to potentially travel for a project during the weekend? In that case, the question makes sense. Other than that it’s illogical. You don’t just schedule people on Weekends.
Happened to me on a huge account. I quit after 5 months into working on it.
