I would be worried for sure. I've received mixed reviews recently with the partner who just made partner who I worked with on some engagements making sure that I would not get promoted to manager. In fact, I've been counseled out. Fortunately, I was finally able to land another position in private. I knew in the past that he could be difficult to work with.
I had a partner similar to this in PwC. I reported him to HR and he retaliated. I left the firm and it was the best thing for me long run but I went through a year of depression. Before you report him, have an exit plan.
Sounds like this partner should be reported for unprofessional behavior. Partners are not expected to behave that way. It affects their evaluation and comp.
Go eff his wife instead
What level are you? Sounds pretty unprofessional of the partner. But seriously why hadn't you saved in 3 hours?? I impulsively save like every 10 minutes
Why would you want to continue working for someone who is going to go off the rails on something relatively minor in the grand scheme of things? I mean, losing 3 hours of work sucks, but it happens.
OP losing work in canvas happens all the time. Looks like the partner over reacted and it is definitely unprofessional.
name of the partner so we can avoid him/ her
More context please
Call the anonymous hotline to report. You lost three hours worth of work, that can happen. A decent partner would have used it as a professional coaching moment about saving work and moved on. What he did seems unprofessional, unnecessary, and over to top.
I agree with EY5
Talk to your counselor. Make sure it is noted somewhere in writing even if it is in an email to your counselor. You want to make sure it is documented somewhere. A partner should not go off like tbat. You never know the background of things, the lost of 3 hours worth of work could have been the cherry topper to an already bad day and he lashed out. That being said, it is extremely unprofessionak for a partner to tell someone on his team to go fuck themselves. I would talk to other team members who have worked with this particular partner before. See if this is just him being him. If it is not in his nature to fly off the handle, then you have serious problem on your hands.
On a side note, I would venturr to guess that a simple lack of saving work would cause such a severe reaction. Have their been other problems. Etween you and this partner or the sm on this team?
This incident by itself shouldn't mean you're getting fired. These things happen, live and learn. More worrisome is that the partner doesn't like you already
Call HR
How rude of him. I don't care what level you are, no one should talk like that. It's frustrating that people of higher rank think they can talk rudely. People should be kind to staffs, managers, partners, janitors... all the same. Of course you might talk on a different professional manner to a partner versus staff but as far as kindness goes.. should be polite to all....!
What level are you? Also if you were told by a partner it's better to start looking right away. Any idea what might be the reason?
EY OP - start finding another job. seems like a shitty environment to be in anyway
Also my reviews have been average. Not great, but not bad. This partner in particular has always had a temper, and has never seemed to like me at all.
Now that I think about it, are you sure he's not just suggesting a new audit procedure? Maybe this is a focus area of the PCAOB this year
Yes
You need to bring your People Consultant or counselor if. Especially if that conversation didn't go well.
