decided they needed to keep it internal especially because of the timelines with deliverables for the work stream I think it would take 6 weeks for me to start. I honestly understand but I'm still just so bummed and feel like I can't get back on my feet sad. they shouldn't have even posted it to external people. I'm just really sad and wanted to vent. thanks for letting me!
Their loss!
I think we as women don’t deal with a lot of rejection in life as men do.
So take this as a learning opportunity and go on to the next one until you land something.
Chin up, you’ve got this!
Lol I get rejected all the time personally and professionally. Am I that bad then? 🙃😅
Hold a pity party and then shake it off and move on. When one door closes, another one opens.
Good luck!
Just went through this too OP- it’s honestly the worst. Why would they even get someone’s hopes up for a position just to go internal? Ugh. So frustrating.
I took a few days to mope about it and then just chalked it up to more interview practice- this way, when the perfect role we are looking for comes along, we will both be ready to ace that interview. Best of luck to you!
I think we have to keep believing everything will work out and the right opportunity will eventually present itself at the right time!
Happens and that too when you weren’t looking they encourage you to apply in the first place. Just know that this is temporary and something better is waiting for you. This also may mean that it’s generally cheaper and easier to staff internal as no signing bonus, lower pay raise and retaining that person hence they go with that. Definitely not a reflection on you though it would be hard for you to believe it right now.
So chin up and be ready for other better things your way.
As someone who came from industry some companies are required to post a job both internally and externally. Used to aggravate the shit out of me that I had to go through the entire process knowing I already had made my decision. Some places even require you to interview a specific number of candidates before making an offer. One time I had to leave a job open for 3 months because I didn’t get the required number. Finally convinced HR it was pointless and let me extend an offer
wow, thanks so much everyone! support helps a lot and much appreciated! 😊
H1 that's crazy - thanks for sharing. It definitely seemed like that from the start, and it's super aggravating as a candidate !
