Just had a SM call and ask to move over 2 weeks of billable work to a PRD code because the project is over budget. Just checked and this will put me just at 89% utilization for year end (cont.)

Do NOT do it. Prd doesn't give you adjusted utilization. Talk to the SM or PPD if needed and tell them to give you another code

like

They shouldn't be asking you to do this. For the minimal cost to the project margin, the firm should be writing off the over-budget amount as a cost of business and the cost of underestimating the work. It is not your fault that they underpriced the engagement.

You need to tell him this will hurt you at YE. Figure out the number of hours you need to stay at 90 and ask if you can bill those.

like

No one should be telling you to move chargeable hours, provided: your work was good and did not require someone else to re-do, you charged hours correctly and you have a good record of what you worked on. That being said, your year end numbers have been communicated and you should be fine. Definitely have a conversation with the SM on your concerns about the metrics and use the opportunity to remind him of your real contribution to the project.

Year end happened already bud. The cut off was last 3/4

D3 this is for time that was billed prior to the cutoff

I would only agree if they personally talk/send an email to explain to counselor & other major deciders for your YE. If they all know, you'll be fine. If you handle this OK they'll even remember you for it in a favorable light.

like

I don't even think you can change it now

I'm a C need to hit 90%. How does adjusted utilization work and can this count towards it? What are my options here so I'm not totally screwed at year end?

That far back will need PPMD approval, talk to them before you do anything. This isn't usually allowed at all unless there was a huge screw up. Even then it's unethical, talk to PPMD and Councilor

BTW.. this won't impact your PY17 numbers. However, it will put you in a two week hole for PY18. Either way, tell the mm to fuck off in the nicest way possible. They are free to move their hours if they'd like

Don't do it. Against firm policy and ethics. Talk to you counselor

I’m on an engagement with another associate. I’m fully booked (upwards of 60 hours a week every week of July), while the other associate hasn’t had billable hours for the last 3 months... engagement team has some changes they need to get pushed through to the wps, and I’m the better choice to push those updates (have more experience in wps and just better in general). But the other associate has availability and just gets paid to do nothing. Should I bring that up to someone? How and to whom?
