The benefit is more responsibility. There are people who want to work a lot and feel important and respected, and those people are usually paid more. There are people who want to have a bit of work and enjoy their lives. You sound like the latter. Most consultants are the former. There’s no catch. The benefits are as you laid out: more flexing, more pay
