Why would you quit!! We're building a better working world together.

Hire your firm as a tax client and quit because you have an independence issue.

If I inherited a large amount of money I would stay doing exactly what I'm doing for 5-10 years and then retire at 35-40. I'd invest that money and watch it grow

you can't post something like this without saying how much.

or you're a troll...?

How much. Or it didn't happen.

@ey2 😂 like in office space "It you had $1m what would you do? I'd invest half of it in low risk mutual funds..."

Why don't you respect the person who died

like

Wait until after the will is settled and you have the money. Plus you don't want to burn any bridges in case you do have to work again

like

Just wait until after filing/until you actually get the cash from the estate. Unless you hate everyone you work with, then I guess just leave - as long as you have cushion enough to last until you receive your inheritance

I'd go part time

Why would you quit before you even know what you inherited?

Troll. Imaginative troll.

like

Idk the exact amount yet. Needs to go through the will and stuff. Enough where I could not work if I don't want to

Now is a good time. You can say you did the 3/15 deadline at least.

I got a full time offer from the company I interned at this summer. However, I have been applying and interviewing at various consulting firms so far. Some of them I won’t hear back until September/October. Is it wrong to accept the offer and then reject it if I get a better offer? I don’t wanna burn a bridge with this company since I really enjoyed my experience there but I have to be smart with my decision since I graduate in December and need an earlier work start date.

Had a shoot a week back in London and a gaffer left midday because they felt unwell. They weren’t particular helpful at all during the shoot and I’m hesitant to pay the full day rate he has invoiced for. Is it common practice to pay fully even if he left midway? Hi tax 🐠,

I have a question for those who prep individual tax returns. My parents claim my grandfather as a dependent on their tax return and due to their low income, receive PTC for the premiums they pay on his insurance (not eligible for medicare). However, would it be advantageous to have him file for his own tax return (he stays with my parents and doesn't have his own proof of residency via bills). If so, can he get PTC if his income is 0?

As a senior, I am dealing with trying to get answers from management but those above me want to be the filter and asker of all questions with the client. That is fine, each team has a preference.

But the questions do not seem to get asked or when they do the answer isn't right. How do others deal with this issue?

Partners or whomever can help me understand about billing and hours. To keep things simple, let’s say you only have one staff to work 1,700 billable hours a year on a $60k salary and you have only one job that and the rate charged to the client is $300/hour and an projected hours budget of 1,700 hours. So ideally you would have revenue of $510k. If the staff takes less time partners make less money and if they take more time partners make more money while the staff keeps the same salary?

I started at a new firm this year in January. I had a billable goal that was given to me mid year of around 1750 house for the year. I am nowhere near that and definitely will not meet the goal. I had so many non billable hours I was forced to take when I first came in. I worked my ass off in busy season. At my previous firm I never fell short of hours as it was B4. This firm is mid sized and more focused on WLB. My question is how bad do you think this will affect my comp??
