Just joined a Big 4 firm under the impression I would be doing XYZ work, but it turns out they misrepresented the position and the reality of the engagements available. I was straight up lied to (I did my due diligence as best I could). What should I do?

Let me guess you landed in IT audit after being sold “it advisory”?

likefunny

Ya they sometimes call it Tech Consulting but it’s just IT Audit

Smells like risk advisory and SOX...

Could you explain more? Just want to understand the details of what they said it would be versus the title of your position and service line

In 4 to 6 months, ask to transition to another team.

Do the work, ask to transfer to another engagement or quit

The engagement is at least 6 months long

What’s wrong with Sox? I think I just got hired into that…

Story of my life. I would just quit and do what you want to do. There are always other jobs

Come to GT and explain the scenario, DM me for referral

Has happened to me before. Was bitter about it for a while, was stoked about the gig going in. Try to transfer. Explain the scenario to someone like your coach first. If they don’t budge, find a manager who works FT in the LOS you want and has authority to determine the schedule. Don’t be afraid to push for it. If that doesn’t work and you’re miserable, def quit/move to a different firm.

Considering leaving EY for a 300 FTE consulting firm, mainly govt sector, for a strategic talent role (non-client facing). Current Manager in a long-term product management role. Offer is 30% increase, director title, and fully remote. Concerned about jumping to a company I had never heard of prior to LinkedIn connection. Thoughts? 30% too low for this type of jump?

Hey anyone here can help what is generally asked in "hiring manager" round in an interview with walmart. Is it technixal or non twchnical and what more... Role - SDE PS - it is my second round of interview after a techincal test and interview.

I am in cloud engineering. My current salary is 140k and this is my milestone year to become manager. I have been getting offers from non FAANG companies but capped at 150- 165k. All roles are typically through service companies and of cloud engineer profile. My dilemma is that I don’t know if I should exit to lesser known firms since brand is of some importance to me. 1. Are the salaries being quoted normal for cloud ? 2. Is it worth leaving at this point of my career or should I make the move
