Just joined a small consulting firm, like the work and the people so far. They hired me at a lower level and salary for lack of BD experience, with the expectation that I perform and earn a promotion in 3-6 months. I have another better offer with a larger product based company that’s setting up its consulting business as one of the early hires. Is there a nice way I can leverage offer 2 with company 1? I’ll feel terrible about leaving tbh. This would also be my 1st job in the country.

Just take the other job if it grows your career. No one gets promoted in 3-6 months (especially in this economy) and it was likely something said to get you to take the offer. It'll likely be a year minimum if not 2.

*add on: before you actually leave, you might as well try as there is nothing you can lose and that gives them the chance to adjust it. But be sure that you would otherwise take the offer (and that it‘s still valid)

Accept job 2 and be happy. Don’t complicate it for no reason. Employers won’t think twice before letting you go if they have to. You will realize this eventually.

Accept job 2. I’m in a similar situation, putting in my resignation next week after 2 months

BCG1: potentiall but it really depends on your explanation and the ego of the people you leave. Don‘t blame it on them or the money, rather tell them you got a fantastic opportunity that you would like to explore and although it was short, you had fantastic 6 months, appreciate what you learned and hope you also could add value on the projects there. Also that you‘d love to stay in touch.

Wait you already started the new job and now have another offer? I would just leave vs using the 2nd offer for leverage. They will be annoyed if you are new and still interviewing, so I would just make it a clean Break.

Currently an A3 in audit. My team communicated to me that they’re pushing for me to get mid-year promo (Jan 2022) but I’m also interested in leaving to another Big 4 for AAS as an S1. Current salary is $73.6k and am unsure of how much I should be going for to make the jump worth it. I know EY FAAS offered a friend $85k in my market but assuming I get mid year promo I’m not so sure the salary bump would be significant enough. How much room for negotiation is there with Big 4 experienced hires?
