Just joined Deloitte, is it normal for a another Manager who joined 3 months ago to be assigning tasks to me? Joined as a manager recently, was down levelled from EY. How do you manage this? Deloitte

Completely normal for even an analyst to give tasks to a manager. Deloitte is not very hierarchical. Almost always role and project dependent

Agreed. Just prioritize effectively and communicate your priorities. The team should understand

It is normal for a manager to manage other managers. Think him/her as sport team captain. Captain makes the call, but he/she is not always the famous or more earning or expert. They are appointed as captain for some reason.

Agreed with posts - you will start by learning the ropes from someone else, not by doing on your own

The project manager gets to assign tasks and staffing. They could be a manager or even senior. Since you're not being invited to co-lead, you're just a muscle in said engagement. If you dont want to, dont.

Eventually PPMD will give you something you could lead, but they dont just randomly displace a project manager so you can take over. Until it happens, you'll have to get your billable doing senior level work.

Not normal. It all depends on the tone and context

Can someone tell me what a Manager does at Deloitte and how that differs from a Manager at say PWC/Accenture?

Aren’t managers delivery managers anyway? Sm’s are overall lead

Anyone else ever feel like a completely inadequate consultant? I'm struggling with performance quality on this project because I just feel dumb and it demotivates me to really strive to improve. Possibly also impacted by burnout because I performed well on other engagements and enjoyed my teams more. Just not sure where to go from here to get where I need to be.

On a call with the CEO talking about diversity and they compare a person with tattoos experiencing prejudice in the office to Black people colleague experiences... Meanwhile last I checked, a tattoo was a choice and removable. Also depending on placement, you can’t see it.

An ED from another team reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in an opening in his team. He said my name was recommended to him by someone (didn’t disclose who). I don’t want to ruin relationship
