That moment when you’re hearing a presentation on the theme of Cannes being about diversity & inclusion and you look around realizing the 4 presenters are all WHITE DUDES in their 40s. SMH.

Does anyone feel like their agency walks the walk in terms of committing to diversity and inclusion?

So I am seeing this guy, and whenever we go out for dinner we split the bill 50/50. Like he doesn't even offer to pay. But when we go out for drinks after dinner he pays. He's currently doing his MBA so loans and told me that money was always tight when he was a kid so I get it, but sometimes it's hard not to compare to my ex who used to pay for everything when we went out. But then again he had a range of other issues hence the ex... please offer some respectful thoughts to help me 😊

Why are town Hall meetings so impersonal? They are all about awards / the number of people hired. I know FCB health is large, but we never hear from people who aren’t Executives. Last town hall, when discussing inclusion efforts, there were no people of color represented and one of the 4 pillars of diversity was centered around our “reputation as an organization” (that really rubbed me the wrong way). At my last agency those conversations were always led by people of color from every level.

Recently had my opinion shut down because “as a white male, I was coming from a position of privilege and could not possibly understand”. Excuse me? My skin pigmentation has more bearing than any life experience, education and past hardships and condemns me to being inherently incapable of ever being able to grasp certain concepts?

Private school worth it? I think of it as insurance. Less chance your kid is a screw up, sets the baseline of what school he/she gets into higher. makes sure they don’t get lost in the weeds with low student teacher ratio. Anyone else done extensive research or has practical life experiences with this?

If I am already well into the highest tax bracket and will be for the next ten+ years, and if I am inheriting a sizable IRA... do you suggest cashing out (with the tax hit) so I can grow it with diversity and flexibility or do I stretch and just take RMDs until I am required to empty it? I feel like I am getting biased advice from the institution.

Advice as I’m not sure whether it’s just “me”. A white male leader who’s always saying the “right things” about supporting female, diversity, being an ally, etc. I had many interactions with him, and his word of choice, statement irks me. For example: who’s your role model (a single person in the company), or put me more as second lieutenant role, made an assumption that I don’t have network, and always gave me the “rah rah” about my salary is good when I asked about comparison to my peers.

I was asked by my director to join a diversity and inclusion leadership group today. Feels nice to be recognized as someone who could help lead an initiate, and I guess I qualify as diverse because I’m a woman and my technology practice is mostly male. But I feel I don’t represent enough voices that really need to be heard - I’m white, raised middle class. Wondering if I should accept and/or any thoughts anyone has. Especially from people who don’t identify as Caucasian.

I cringe when I hear Partners and Staff refer to people with the incorrect skill set as “low quality people”. If you throw an SA onto a project in an area they aren’t familiar with, and they struggle, are the really a “low quality” person? I feel it’s more about fit and skill set (provided they aren’t lazy and negligent).
