Just looking for strength in numbers. Has anyone ever been ready to stick a fork in their leg because opposing counsel is talking slowly and asking tons of repetitive questions at deposition?? Seriously ready to scream.

The slower opposing talks, the fewer questions he gets to ask. All the better if it's the same question.

Looking for roles I can pivot to from my current career in financial middle office/financial ops -

I’m not interested in front office, and it feels like the only other jobs I can get are other financial MO/BO jobs.

What other jobs would these MO / ops skills be a good fit for?

Are new joinees expected to be in office mandatorily from the start or are they also offered flexibility ?

Does anyone actually wake up refreshed and if so can you share your secrets? It doesn’t matter how much or how little sleep I get I wake up feeling like I got hit by a train. I run 3-4x per week and have lost ~20lbs in the past few months so I should be getting enough vitamin D and have a healthy diet. Don’t drink coffee or other caffeine (unless herbal tea on occasion counts). I wear an eye mask to block out light. Tried melatonin but it gave me nightmares. I feel like I’m losing hope on sleep

Does anyone have experience leaving their firm and using the pension benefit to negotiate with the new company? I’m not vested and will receive an offer from industry (company doesn’t have a pension plan). Curious to hear what others have done. My pension wouldn’t be huge but it’s a decent chunk of money to walk away from. What are some things that have worked? Additional sign-on bonus, bigger stock grants, etc. Thanks.

I do digital marketing for a PI firm. I want to chat about Yelp. Obviously it’s a platform built for consumers, not for businesses. Naturally, former clients go there to bash or rave about their experience. While I know Yelp’s algorithm, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on pushing the negative reviews down so they’re not the first few that populate? The review replies are specific, detailed, & to the point as to why they’d write it, the outcome of their case, etc. I appreciate any help!

I am looking into starting my own firm with one other attorney. I have never been a partner or solo so I am trying to figure out best practices right now. I would appreciate any advice on starting up, things to avoid, preferred software, which gods to pray to, etc. The goal is to be virtual and to primarily do PI with a small amount of business services (my current book is mostly business litigation/contacts/outside counsel work).

Thank you all in advance! This is pretty daunting.

NY specific question: my last firm paid for case tracking through elaw. I’m joining a new firm with active matters but no elaw account. I see that ecourts has an “etrack” feature. Do I need elaw? Or can I get appearance notifications etc automatically through ecourts? Is there anything that elaw does that ecourts does not? Thank you!

It’s tough, between 2 different managing partners who are different but my cases are pretty 50/50 between them. My previous firm I had far fewer cases.
