Just lost my grandfather because of covid and one of my best friends because of depression today. Not being able to cry and feel very normal. What do I do? How do I grieve?

If you want to talk to your grandfather and best friend, do so through whichever medium feels right to you. If you want to watch a sad movie to feel like you can relate to something, do it.

Listen to your body and give it the freedom to feel and be exactly as it needs to be. No more, no less.

Also, I’m so truly sorry for your loss, OP. I truly believe you have extra special protection in your vicinity now because of them 💜

Signs I’m getting old: I tripped and fell, and somehow partially tore my ACL. Have to figure out if I want surgery, and how to tell the team—at the very least, I’ll need a ton of PT. I’m a first year associate and the only woman on all of my teams, so I’m freaking out about how this is going to reflect on me. Anyone familiar with Covid Supplemental Paid Sick Leave in CA? Does having planned time off nullify a full time employee’s ability to use the C19 sick leave if they become sick just prior to the planned time off? This job mainly deals with Adverse event/high prescribing meds product complaints. In my current role I deal with on boarding pt & getting patients work done from A-Z till they get on their meds. My first prenatal visit was billed as “absence of menstruation” instead of “prenatal visit”, therefore my insurance is not covering it (insurance only covers prenatal visits). Is this normal? Did the doctor make a mistake with coding?

Any advice on how many slides a ~15min tech interview presentation should be? I know there’s no perfect number but is like maybe 8-12 slides good enough? Context is this is for higher up like we’re talking Directors+ and they’re very smart in tech with phd’s.

2nd Cousin has a Mexican boyfriend of 4 months and is 3 months pregnant - did not have conversations with her mother or her sister, close cousins before going forward. I just have to say that signing up for therapy (and finding my current therapist) was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I’m learning a lot about myself and how to live a happier life. I wish people could learn about these things without therapy. And I wish more people would be able to take advantage of counseling.

Getting to the point where some days I completely shut down. Cry in the bathroom at work. Can’t do anything. Next day I can manage it all pretty well. How do you deal with irrational anxiety whenever your boss is saying “hey let’s schedule 1:1, I’ve got a few things to discuss”? I’ve never had a bad performance rating before, quite the opposite I have received positive feedback. I also know 99% of the time this meeting is harmless and my anxiety has been proven wrong many times. But I’m still always on edge whenever this kind of meeting is scheduled. 😩

Performance reviews are coming up and I over promised on improving/ automating a process for a client. I suffer from anxiety and this is my first engagement going on my 3rd full week with the client. The directors and partners managing the relationship with the client are meeting with the client to discuss my performance for our yearly performance review.

My first therapy appointment tomorrow! I’ve never dealt with depression before having my second kid and my PPD was/is rough! Filling out the intake form I basically had to list out all the things I’ve dealt with - rape, mom issues, death in family during pandemic, kid hit by car, ppd, and a slew of over things… looking forward to working through these things over time, whatever that might look like.
