Just made SC2 at EY (4 YOE) and received a manager 1 offer at Accenture Strategy (40% bump in TC). Everything’s great I am just genuinely nervous that I am not equipped to handle a manager level role…have very little experience managing teams. I want to accept I’m just a bit intimidated. Would love any advice from really anyone…

The vast majority of M1s have no experience managing teams. Furthermore, many of the Ms, SMs, Partners are terrible leaders. Take the role and get paid. The fact that you’re concerned about your ability to lead puts you ahead of many I’ve seen.

So true. Get that bag 💼

Everyone is just faking it anyway might as well get paid more to do so.

Congrats! I’d recommend taking the pay and title bump! As a new M at ACN you should get the support needed. Everybody in consulting has imposter syndrome at one point or another, embrace it and take the leap. Good luck!

Fake it til you make it! That’s literally what every newly-promoted manager does. Do your team a favor and don’t come in hot - your job as a new team lead is to listen and learn, especially since you may be coming into a team that’s been on the job longer and knows more about the firm/project/client than you do.

Beat me to it! No one really knows what they’re doing at first, but you have to start somewhere

Not sure it will help you but I am a M1 at ACN and am struggling a bit. Good news is that I am not alone and I get support to improve. Advice is to take offer and find a good CC/People lead to help become an effective manager.

I agree with everyone else. Just remember you should be a leader, not a (micro)manager. You are guiding the team to get what needs to be accomplished completed. Some of the team members will be more experienced than you in certain areas and that ok.

Do it. Fast. All the best.

What practice in Accenture Strategy? Intensity varies

What is the offered comp and current comp?

@D1: an experienced M (not homegrown) could start anywhere between 140-160

Are you EY-P?

Nightmare situation today at my first Zoom trial. On Friday, the court said trial would begin at 1:30 PM on Monday. We informed our clients and all our witnesses to be ready at that time. Never got a Zoom link, figured it would show up Monday morning. At 9:01 AM on Monday, we get an email saying, among other things, “Defense counsel has not appeared for trial.” Then, another email came immediately after that, with a Zoom link included. It’s just me and the paralegal in the office at this point.
