Just offered 85k for federal tax Senior 2 PwC. CPA. MCOL. Feel like it is pretty low considering only a 13% bump. Thoughts?

It's really not that bad for a senior in a MCOL city. Either that or I need a huge pay increase.

like

At PwC as a S3 in Tax at $88K. I would take your offer if it's a bump AND if it had other benefits you are looking for such as city, Tax area, etc.

Thanks for the insight! I am moving for the new job. Do you know if they would pay for the move or the amount for a sign on bonus?

I was at $73k as a senior 2 at EY at a low COL. can you negotiate a sign on bonus?

like

I negotiated well to match close to a 100k. I’d counteroffer if you have other offers.

S1 and 78k in MCOL

like

Ask for moving assistance. They may.give you a flat amount that wont cover it but it helps. Keep in mind it's also taxable.comp so 5k gross is really like 3500 net.

like

Thank you!

I would ask for something else. You could ask for relocation assistance of 7.5k. If they can’t do relocation, I would ask for a sign on bonus….

Not sure if the right spot but need help figuring out my worth. I am with a large real estate PE firm, mcol area, and I am technically in FP&A. That said I do 95% of my work automating valuations, fund models, and underwriting using SQL, python, and excel (for end users to be able to use). Given my technical department, my skill set, and my actual work I don’t know where to start for understanding an appropriate salary. I have 5 years industry experience with both finance & tech.

If salary is not on here or Glassdoor or Salary, what’s a good way to gauge an estimate of the worth so I don’t waste my time? Getting back on the job hunt. I have a hard time knowing how much certain jobs are worth from descriptions and if I’m in the right ballpark for salary. I’ve turned down a couple interview requests bc I would tell them my range. I’ve also spent time on several jobs where the description didn’t match the value. They ended up being 20% less than others in the industry.

I’m a tax senior 1 (will be a senior 2 in October) and just got an offer with a 26% raise at a large public company on their provision team. There’s also an aspect of FP&A and helping with transactions so not strictly tax. All seems super interesting and the team seems great. I really like my EY team and my counselor has talked to me about an early manager promo next year but have never intended to be a PA lifer. Any reason I shouldn’t take it?

International vs. PCS internal and Exit Opportunities. — I’m a S2 in ATL working in PCS and in international/crossborder for private clients. I need some guidance determining whether I would be better off staying in PCS or declaring a specialty in int’l/crossborder work. I don’t see myself in B4 forever, and it seems the int’l work would limit exit opps in the future. However, PCS exit opps aren’t appealing to me either: family office or wealth management. — any help or insight is appreciated.
