Just opened a Roth IRA for the first time. What do you recommend investing in? Funds like VTI? individual Equities? Dividend stocks? Any help appreciated!

VTI or similar. Or similar Target Retirement fund - but for a late retirement date to delay the shift to bonds.

During salary negotiations with Infosys. HR : what is the offer you holding? Me : 40 HR : We would not be able to match that. Me : yes I understand, but you need to compensate me on some other parameters, maybe onsite opportunity. You cannot say since this is Infosys, take 30 or leave. HR : no, the max we can offer is 26. 😸😸

Hello HR folks. Overheard a conversation at work and am curious what is the norm.
If an employee goes out on FMLA, obviously the benefits person sends them the STD, FMLA paperwork etc. But is it the maagers responsibility to maintain communication with the person out on leave and to get a timeline on their return or would that be the benefits team? Or maybe the HRBP?

This would make me feel much more comfortable. Any guidance?

24, a decent amount of savings in the bank. I’m sort of interested in buying a property in the next few years.
Is this a good or bad idea? I live in Ny area, so obviously the city would probably be too expensive to buy any property.
