Once the money is in the account, you invest it. Do some investigating on your own to figure out what makes the most sense for you. I invest in risky index funds, but I’m in my 20s and have a large risk appetite

Ey1- same here. While you’re figuring it out (took me a few months to finally sit down and research where to invest) maybe invest in some target date accounts (preset allocations based on your age/retirement year).

Keep it simple. Just get into a Target date retirement fund.

Anyone else feel obligated to take family/friend referrals to healthcare providers? My brother is a dentist and, in light of some work I need done, said "hey! Go to so-and-so at such-and-such. He's a friend and really great." And I'm sure he IS really great, but I love my dentist and don't feel a need to switch. But my brother has already told his friend to expect me.

Hello all I received an offer from EY GDS and the date of joining was a concern so I asked for a postpone not much just by a week.( Joining is in May)
It's been almost 1 week now and I haven't heard back from the HR I called and was informed the details are shared with other team and they are working on it.
Is it normal ? Does it take really this long for a new start date?
I resigned here and a bit worried about this whole thing .
Please help

Curious for some advice…

I currently have a Cap One Venture card. I have had it for a couple of years now but I am interested in upgrading to a Venture X card.

No promotion has been offered to me to upgrade my existing Venture card to a Venture X card.

Should I wait until that promotion is offered to me? Or would it be dumb to apply for a Venture X card separately and a) hold both cards or b) close out the original Venture card.

Guessing I should still leave the down payment in a HYSA (getting 3% right now)? Sucks to miss out on market returns, but I understand that conventional wisdom is not to invest money you'll need in the short term (within 3ish years). I'm definitely tempted to put a portion of that in VTI though...

I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty
