Our management rep letter is prepped by the lowest person
Probably because they dont want someone new to take full ownership of a key part of the audit. Your time will come, just learn what you can now and bite of bigger and bigger pieces over time
When were you promoted? Usually there’s a 6-month lag in your promotion and you actually “taking over” as that title. Ideally you would be performing at that level before you got promoted but once you get promoted the expectation is even higher. You were staffed on the job under your old title so that’s how they budgeted it. You got promoted, great. It doesn’t really change the Job’s budget unless they knew for sure you would be promoted and that’s how they staffed it. So enjoy the duties of your old title with your new salary until you start getting staffed as senior. Trust me, Senior is the worst so there’s nothing fun about it
to just complete the workpapers but they’re excluding me from taking part in the important stuff
Like drafting the fs or the mgmt rep letter... perhaps they think im too slow or incapable, right?
Anybody else experience something like this ? Ive tried to bring it up to the mgrs before but they “forget"
Have you asked them to let you participate? If you have and they say no, I would ask them why. If not, may be ask them for the opportunity.
They say they will let me participate but its just implied because they just jump right into the issuance process without even letting me know and exclude me in any email communication with client or the quality control reviewer during the issuance process
Mgrs who have done this before- What are some of the things that run through your mind when you decide to do the fs issuance process yourself and not let the senior take part
Probably they don’t trust you or you haven’t shown you can do what you can do...because you were promoted (which is basically a right in big 4) means you can do it...show then you can make it
It just seems like they don’t know how to teach or let go of the reigns. Some people are better at it than others, but maybe just speaking up can solve the issue.
Maybe they just want to be more efficient and jump right in and get stuff done rather than adding in another layer. I do this sometimes to my staff when I don’t have time to review and just prefer to get things done. But if you feel some type of way you should bring it up and address it to ease your mind.
I am not new- im going in to my 4th year with the firm
