Just pulled the trigger on a 49” ultrawide monitor! Gosh I hope that wasn’t stupid.

Best decision I have made when it comes to tech (together with the wireless mouse and travel second monitor).

No way. Also get high quality mouse and keyboard. We spend so much time on our computers. Can you expense to your firm?

Very nice. You can also find electric stand up desks on Amazon pretty cheap to fill out the set up! I discovered during WFH that the work set up was like buying a mattress, you get what you pay for.

Have the same at home and work, no ragrets. You will want the ergotron HX arm that works with it. Also, get a second travel monitor to put below it and use for your inbox.

Prime Day, Baby! You won't regret it - that's awesome.

like

Woa that’s awesome. Can you post a pic of how it looks with your office set up?

like

Thanks!

I went big monitor this year and in general like it. The only downside is I do a lot of conference calls where I have to screen share a document while often working a separate notes document or internal chat window on the side that I don’t want others to see. Easier to make sharing mistakes doing this with one monitor than with two.

Just as an FYI, I have this model, you can do two screens (two separate HDMI inputs) on it. It’s amazing

I have one at work and one in my home office. I haven’t regretted it for a second. Well worth the expense. As someone else mentioned, get the Ergotron HX monitor arm. That’s also what I use.

Recently I got invited to an interview with a decent growing company. I work in Executive Search and I am thinking of switching to in-house recruiting. During the conversation the recruiter made some weird assumptions about my current job. The interview took longer than expected and I feel like I have not delivered well. Was I wrong to expect in-house recruiter to understand the differences and similarities between in-house-recruiting, professional search and retained executive search?

What's a rule you are expected to enforce that you strongly disagree with or are indifferent to. Do you enforce it or take the risk? I move around as a tutor and am currently working with a school that has a ridiculously strict formal address policy. One of my second graders refers to me as "Miss Tutoring (my first name)" - it's about the cutest thing ever and doesn't bother me one bit. We are moderated sometimes and I'm more worried about her getting in trouble than me for not abiding.

So stuck. What do I do? I joined this firm a year ago (4 yrs exp total) to grow/get more court/client exposure. Then 2 more-experienced associates were hired, pandemic, & all cases are divided between the other 2. I have no defined tasks except deficiency letters or the odd pro bono case. Boss claims it's mentoring. I still need to meet bill req.

Last wk Boss said I'll do more & my work was good, but today said I can't 2nd chair bc I don't have experience. I'm doing less now than my prior firm.
