Just realized doing ML/DS in consulting is like being a big fish in a small pond: do anything twice and read a couple of Medium articles and suddenly you're an expert in the topic. It's great for people who are interested in the business side but terribly awful for people who want to tackle real technical problems.

Not true! Most people at my firm have PhDs and Masters in analytics , data science or comp sci and are very knowledgeable. Looks like you have lucked out! Enjoy it!

Ah ok! My practice does have few phds and almost most of them with masters. Just saying…

It's a consultancy not a R&D firm, it's mostly about application of ML to solve business problems, there's good patterns and repeatability

Very true. I feel like I make way more than I should for this exact reason.

Hi Boss Ladies!
I’m 32, and on the fast track to senior leadership positions w/in Investment/Finance industry. I’m thinking about getting a career coach as a sounding board to navigate the next leg (MD/EVP to Partner) in this highly competitive, very male dominated field. Has anyone here hired a career coach? Pros? Cons? What were the biggest questions you were hoping to discuss? Anyone that you would recommend? (I’m located in Boston, but very open to a virtual coach)

Hey everyone, moral issue here. My older brother is struggling with money and his mental health. I’m not so good with the mental health stuff but I do have a Robinhood account that has ~5k in it that I could give him to help him feel more comfortable. I make a tc of about 100k at 25 and he makes 50k working 2 jobs at 32. I can make that 5k back later in life, it would mean more to help him now when he needs it. Thoughts? All comments welcome. NOTE: I did help him find a therapist.
