Just received an in house offer for a financial company. Been in house at a different company for a couple years, however, the offer is 40% more then what I make now and hybrid (2days a week in office). Just hesitant to accept as I’m comfortable where I’m at but this is a $60k increase in pay. Hours seem to be 9-5:30/6, no weekends. Should I leverage the offer with my current company? I did that last year with another offer and they did match. I don’t. Think they will match but somewhat close.

One thing to consider here is that you already did this last year. If you attempt it again so soon, they may just conclude that it’s better for you to leave since it appears that you’re unhappy (evidenced by your decision to interview for another in-house role again this year).

Your old firm thinks you are worth 70% of what the new firm thinks you are worth. Why would you want to work for them anymore?

like

Hell yeah brother, ask your current place to match or bounce to the new place.

Some in-house departments are chronically under paid. You can’t easily remedy that through promotions or matches. The philosophy of management is usually that legal isn’t worth as much as it is. So go some place that recognizes the benefits to higher wages because it nets them better candidates who can do better work, etc.

If you want the raise just go. If your current place matches they will still think they are grossly overpaying you and axe you when expedient for them. When i left my last job they tried to give me a $100k raise bc they knew i was super productive and they ended up replacing me with 2 cheaper ftes that were in-band. If i had stayed they likely would have still replaced me with those ftes, just 6-12 months later

Would love some insight, and also would need some help adjusting my resume to fit the tech landscape.

Thoughts on when a contract is silent as to whether liability is uncapped? We typically cap liability at contract price, but this particular heavyweight co. wants TCs accepted as is. Their terms disclaim consequential damages but there’s no language at all about whether it’s capped or uncapped. If a K is silent as to this, is it implied that both parties have agreed to uncapped? Or does it go to reasonableness standard?
