Had a team match call before hiring committee and the Hiring manager said he'd let the recruiter know by the next day. Recruiter came back and said we won't know for another week cuz there's more candidates to review. Does this mean I probably won't be matched with that team?

Is it the norm for companies people interview for, even those who bring you in in person for an almost 4-hour interview with several members of the team, to fully ghost you afterward, even after a follow up? I find it extremely disrespectful. You go in knowing that the law of the market means you may not get the job, but you do invest time to interview, shouldn’t basic decency guarantee you at least a formulaic “thank you but we did not retain your candidacy” type of follow up?

We can still go to a luxury resort, eat fancy food, and have a grand time - but there’s no reason for us to be flying hundreds of colleagues a thousand miles away for a weekend of drinking, partying, and professional programming when we can do all that closer to home. I am not suggesting we change anything about client travel - just stop flying for offsites
