You just suck it up and do it. Technically you can tell him that the Firms policy allows you to fly home on the weekends, but then you're flying out late Sunday night, working Saturday from home and flying back out of town on Sunday. Also, if your work slips at all be prepared for a shitty eval. Much easier to suck it up for a few weeks. How much work is there? Do you not need to work through the weekend to get the work done?

And he just mentioned us working here through the weekend. How do I tell him no? I need a work life balance and his schedule may work for him but it's not working for everyone else.

Sad but gotta do it

When starting a new job with a new team, I think it's fair to ask expectations for the week so that the team is mentally prepared for it. It's perfectly reasonable to ask and have never frowned down on some one for asking it.

Well if out of town then hotel arrangements would have needed to be made in advance. If the mgr says, book a hotel Saturday night then you know and shouldn't be surprised which op is implying the he/she was.

I think he's asking how to get out of it not how to accept it

Agreed

Quit or fake a stomach flu

Tell him you have prior commitments at home over the weekend but you will do your best to manage the work

Our client recently launched their year-end evaluations for the first time since go-live and seems overly complicated.
