If you hadn’t rolled your 401k, would you have sold everything in the 401k and held it in cash until you felt better? That is basically what you are proposing now. Assuming it was invested in the 401k, why would it not be invested in the IRA?
This seems like a good way to look at it.

Lump sum
If you’re under the age of like 55, just lump sum it into VTI or FZROX. Your time horizon is such that the moves of the market over the next couple of years are broadly irrelevant
Thanks. I’m 39. But why not a little more diversification in a lump sum? Can’t I expect more alpha from something like QUAL that still has a low expense ratio?
I agree on the lump sum in general too but I feel like you’ll get a better price than THIS at some point in the near future. Lol
I hear you. If you have a long time horizon though and it’s truly long term money, I’d say to just dump it all in. Whatever price you get today shouldn’t really matter in 10 or 30 years if you buy a broad index fund. You might be able to clip a better price in four weeks, but there’s no guarantee of that either you know
Lump sum. But if your risk tolerance is not what it was before, you could go for a more balanced stock/bond portfolio and reconsider later. 70/30 stock/bond in the long run is better than sitting on cash because you're hesitant to go 100% stock.
I like this approach. Thanks!
Lump sum
Lump sum. Better off doing that than timing market. My father did that a few years ago and he’s been kicking himself ever since
Personally I would DCA. I’m fine limiting gain on potential upside but protect myself from painful loss at once. Probably put 50% in then rest DCA in
