Gave her a hug/talked through it..glad things are okay now 🤗

Play a boardgame as a family. Oldschool.

Dude. I'm a mom. The hug thing works. Don't have to say anything. Just give her a silent tight hug. That's all she'll need. You think you're an adult and have your own thoughts and career and all that. But she probably remembers the baby in you. You don't know that baby. She does. Give her a fucking hug.

like

Honestly OP if you can catch her in a hallway or something just give her a huge hug without saying anything.

like

OP, I feel for you. I recently had to cut my mother completely out of my life. She is not a good person and has chosen not to deal with her issues. I am at a point where I can no longer have negative people in my life. Just because we share DNA is no reason to allow her to detract from the life I'm building. It was very hard, but I am very happy with the decision.

like

OP you may want to change your tone. I'm seeing from your posts that this fence mending is potentially more about making things less awkward for you than making amends with your mom.

like

Way to go, OP!

Don't worry I made my mother cry on our family vacation and was able to bounce back you got this

What's the trick? Feeling very awkward right now. While crying she said "lets not talk about this please"..her depression. Been silent ever since blow out, and now just awkwardly sitting here playing on phones

Take some time out. Go for a walk or run so that everyone can have time of their own. Then try to normalize things once you are back. And before you go to bed, giver her a tight hug.

Yay, get the family up and moving or doing something. Not sure the exact dynamic, but apologize for bringing it up, and recommend doing something (see a movie, play a game, go for a walk).

I really struggle with the "sorry" part only because it'll bring the topic up again to which she'll just cry more. Ugh. Thought it was tough love because this stuff needs to be said, but I'm the bad guy

Major door slam. Nope. That won't be happening. Looks like I'll get to live her depressive ways until my 4:45AM flight Monday.

For those who have kids or have decided you want to start having kids, how did you know you were ready to start trying? I’m turning 31 and my husband and I have been married for 8 months. I’ve always wanted to have kids eventually, but I’m having a hard time coming to terms with how much life will change and the sacrifices that have to be made. Maybe it’s because social media has made me acutely aware of the the mom struggle. If anyone has helpful advice to push past the fear, please share!

I've been working late most nights this week. In the office all week despite the WFH policy. Partner has seen me all day. I'm heading out at 5pm to pick my kid up from daycare since my husband has been doing it for me all week. And the partner says we need to catch up before the weekend. Dude. I told you I had to leave at 5pm today. I had another $75 added to my daycare bill this month for being late at pick ups. Don't look annoyed that you didn't come talk to me. I can call you from the car.

My sister is unvaccinated with no plans to get the vaccine. She is getting married this year, meaning lots of events. I am pregnant, high risk (CH mama from yesterday’s post), and can’t risk getting Covid again. What would you do? Do I ask her to get vaccinated for my/her future niece’s sake? If she doesn’t, should I sit out the wedding events?

Have any of you experienced coming off continuous birth control after a while? I’ve been taking the pill every day for the past 4 years and haven’t had a period. Really enjoy no periods but I want to come off to stop unnecessarily pumping my body with hormones (not trying to get pregnant or anything lol) Talked to my GYN and she’s fine with it, but IDK what to expect physically/emotionally/etc.

I started working in a agency two months ago, and I have two very big projects running simultaneously. My Creative Director left for paternity leave, and left me with all the work, facing the client, going to shootings, editing. I've been working 15 days straight, no weekends. The agency hasn't given me any back up/someone I can team up with to do the job. Is this normal? I'm used to have a partner, a copywriter or another creative working alongside. Keep in mind that I'm mid-level.
