Dog owners: any thoughts on how to accommodate a new puppy into the consulting lifestyle (about me: I don’t travel, have a SO that works less than me to share responsibility with but they cannot WFH)

I know we all love the work from home (or do we?) but does anyone actually miss traveling for their consulting engagements and all the fun that goes along with it? The late nights at the office then the bar and random hookups and excitement and all that? Sure it’s a grind but I think I actually miss it too. Maybe I just miss seeing people at work or seeing people at all. I wonder if we’ll ever get back to that.

So I want to get a puppy with my wife. She has to go into work M-F, and I can work from home. Work recommends I go in 3 days a week starting in January, and we have a bring your dog to work program where you can keep your dog by your desk. Hi, me and my wife are looking to get a 5 months old lab puppy. We are in difficult projects which requires around 10-12 hours everyday. We work from home. This is going to be our first pet. Wow…covid is really over. I live in a rural area where we knew covid was happening but it never really impacted the community or daily life. However when I’d go into the city it was very very obvious there were huge life impacts and fear. I just went into the city for the first time in about 3 months and it’s like covid never happened. It makes me wonder how many other things that have drastically changed (like wfh and hand sanitizer) will go back to normal as people go back to normal.

WORK FROM HOME SUCKS!!! I can't take it anymore. I went for a drive last night after kids put to bed and it felt like a vacation. I get the no commute and more free time, but don't you really miss casual team meals, seeing new places, vacation points, etc?
