Who's going to Mardi Gras?!?
I received a verbal offer from KPMG 4 weeks ago & still haven’t received my written offer. When I follow up with recruiters, they state SR. leadership is reviewing hiring & project work that is to come. Is this standard practice for big 4 to provide a verbal offer & not have written offers ready to go? I also feel like project projection should have been done by now since it’s a new FY.
Passion is important for the sustainability field, but be sure to do some research and read up on the current ESG issues and reporting frameworks. The field is evolving quickly and it will be important to demonstrate working knowledge.
For example: SASB, GRI, CDP
Even if your current clients and work experience does not relate to sustainability, read up on how they are approaching the topic and how you would make a business case for ESG.
For context, I’m currently a sustainability consultant and have been working in the space for 8yrs. :)
Best of luck!
Check out the SASB materiality map, GreenBiz.com and their annual State of Green report, and the ESG reports from any of your recent clients or companies in sectors you’d like to become more familiar with. Skimming 2-5 will give you a sense of the structure and what good and bad looks like
Hey go for it friend. Passion can get you a long way. I think if your excitement shows in an interview that is the single most important factor in a hiring decision, everything else can be taught.
Can’t hurt! We preach that we can teach you anything you need to know if you’re capable and willing to learn. DM me if you want to talk more about the firm / want a referral. Not in strategy but happy to chat.

I applied to an Accenture management consulting position in their higher Ed practice in the areas they were looking for, meeting the adequate YOE, I have conference speaking experience in the area they wanted, and have received a CASE award; and didn't even get a phone screen. Idk if it hurts your future chances by applying to stuff that gets easily dismissed, but I don't see any harm in applying, otherwise.
Haven't looked specifically at EYP. I've mostly been under the assumption that the easiest/most realistic route would be go generalist and then re-specialize. But even that feels daunting to compare my experience to.
