Just started a new job and a person in the team with an equal position is clueless and keep asking me ideas about the project that she’s managing and taking crazy notes of my ideas. What should I do?

I'll give her answers! I have too many ideas! Give her one or two.. see if she gives you credit whenever she uses them. If yes, she's a keeper. If no, then start plotting. Talk loudly, ask her oh wow! This is an interesting problem, how about we do a large brainstorm session, where you invite more ppl and YOU have all the great ideas. It's fun! You're not doing this intentionally, you just want to be a team player... stage it right.

We've all been there. Guide her to where she can find the info. she's looking for vs. giving her the info. You'll be seen as helpful, but you won't be doing her work for her.

She’s asking an idea to build a strategy and also ideas to respond a request for ‘new ideas’ so can’t really lead her anywhere else and I’m spoon feeding her what she needs and feel not happy about it while I even haven’t proved myself in the company.

Maybe you are her replacement

Maybe you are about to be her boss... Perhaps, that’s up to you.

To make sure that I am a team player and build relationship with that person by helping but also gain credits on my ideas?

Stop providing the answer. Ask questions back that leads them to the what their ideas are. Or just say you’re busy.

You could try herding cats. Ask her open ended questions that force her to think about her open projects. If she still can't hack it, find a way to be too busy to discuss. I mean unless you have hiring power. Then put her on a 30- or 90-day plan to get her act together.

Is this person your peer? Do you have the same manager?

Help but force them to think. If they take, make sure you get credit.

Good points above..,how you approach it from a different angle? Present the solutions as a team, this will help her get the job done but also makes sure you get some of the credit. Also helps you look like a real team player. “Hey boss, I was talking to Jane about solving X problem. WE thought that Y would work. What do you think?

I am contracting for PWC on one of their engagements. I just started the background check process which is 2 weeks for pwc and 3 weeks for client to complete. At the same time, I am waiting for an offer from two other companies for something full time. How bad is it to ditch PWC gig during the background screening process (I have already started other on boarding steps). Also is it professional to tell the other companies I am waiting for another offer and need more time to decide.

I have an upcoming final round interview for an M&A role and I’m considering reaching out to someone on the broader M&A team thru LinkedIn (who I’m not interviewing with) to get a sense of the team and culture. If I were to get the job, this would be a peer of mine. I’m also hoping this may help me gain insights for the final round. Any chance reaching out to someone on the side could hurt my candidacy? Should I just wait until after the final round? FWIW, we do have a few shared connections.
