Hi everyone!
Debating between an offer from 200 employee company vs Zoom (the company).
The smaller company has good benefits, great wlb and a great culture per Glassdoor reviews. But its an HR software and not easy to sell.
Compensation is similar.
Never worked in a big company like zoom before, what are the pros, and the drawbacks?

Ewe. Next time ask “what do you mean by that” and make him explain his pervy comment
I mean, this is weird and out of line. However, it’s also possible you’re one of those people who show zero emotion and it is kind of awkward especially for clients. So, this person was wrong for saying it how they did and when they did, but don’t ignore the feedback, just in case it’s true. Nobody needs to sit around and smile all day, but also consider if you’re maybe a bit too serious and down to business when people want to also have a little fun to make work more tolerable.
If I were you I’d do two things- 1) give my manager feedback about how they chose to approach that in a way that made me really uncomfortable and embarrassed, and that I appreciate they have feedback for me but please do it 1:1 next time, and 2) I’d ask if they think I am too serious on calls and to explain the feedback, because I take feedback seriously.

:)
Make it your zoom background and you won’t get asked to smile again

This person sounds like a liability. I'd stay sober the first few happy hours / client dinners with them to get a better feel

Report this harassment to HR
You are being prematurely karen-ish.

I would have clearly stated “well that’s a super awkward thing to say! Lmao” then done like a weird fake laugh and said “I’ll try better next time, I guess😅”
This is the professional way to embarrass the f*** out of him in front of everyone lol

I think saying that ^ in front of everyone would yield worse results💀
Ask them if smiling was in the job description

Mad weird
Definitely some weird energy from them
Are you a male or a female?
It’s a bad thing to say either way, but the difference is whether it fits a pattern or not. Kind of like how if you assault someone that’s bad already, but if it’s a hate crime the punishment is even worse
💀💀💀babes, we’re hiring and that shit would get shut down so, so fast here. my dms are open if you want to jump ship! 🖤
Why so serious
I’ve been told by a woman boss before not to present because of my voice.
That’s reasonable if you have a shrill or awkward sounding voice it could be distracting lol

I thought this was pretty bizarre until I got to the last line - this manager is a ticking time bomb.
How come you never met your manager before starting the job?
Also, super inappropriate to say.
That is awful. At least they are showing their culture to you early on…only positive I can find there

Wut?
Deadpan back: maybe you should smile less then?

Def not normal to say… who would think that’s okay to say out loud
