Is this your first job in insurance? It is overwhelming at first. The real only way to learn it is on the job training. You can also pursue different licenses if you like textbook learning and they will help you advance your career. Any good company will reimburse your education fees too. But on the job learning was the best in my experience. Stick with it and you will get more comfortable every day! Ask lots of questions when you are new. Takes notes and read the guidelines or procedures your company gives you. I’ve been doing this 7 years and not a month goes by I don’t learn something new. There is always more to learn in insurance. Be confident that you can do this! If you want you can make yourself a comfortable career in this industry. Find a mentor in your company if you can and learn as much as possible. Ideally ask another woman in your department with at least 5+ years of experience if they can career mentor you. I did this in my first insurance role and now years later, my mentor is my good friend and we provide each other job references anytime we need to. And someday in the future look out for young woman in the industry you can pay it forward to & always have each other’s backs!

I take lots and lots of notes. I constantly refer back to them too

My practice got super busy after the pandemic. I have had a waitlist and been incredibly busy. It’s been stressful, but I have been grateful for business & to be helping people through a crazy time. This fall, I’ve noticed things slowing down and I don’t really know why. Has anyone else seen any similar trends (or know what might be going on)? TIA.

Accenture India Employees - (1) How much does job location matter in getting good projects for a fresher(ASE- Lvl 12) ?

(2) Should I wait till I get a project in Bangalore and then change location only if WFH gets over (if that is possible) or change it right now ?
(3) Any idea till when WFH will last? Thanks 🙏

I have been licensed for almost 3 years as P&C- Life / Health General lines. I started in a State Farm office and was allowed 8 general leads a day (lucky if the phone number is working) then to call thru the book to generate life business and pivot to multi-line. I worked my tail off and became the top producer with an office full of boys (nothing against it just stating) I had to transition to another company and am thriving but wondering- is there more out there? But I have no women contacts

I was told by management they see me in a more supervisory role at my first year review and during meetings. My second year review comes and there’s no talk about a promotion - instead it says “we can’t wait to see her excel“ and my raise and increase were the same as the prior year. I know I deserved more of an increase this year. I mentioned to my manager about the promotion and was told she will bring it up in a meeting. Three months later and I haven’t heard anything. Any advice?

I am in the customer service and sales side of travel insurance, and I am looking for a new job, possibly in another field. A much larger company purchased us 2 years ago, and over the last 6 months I have lost 2 designations, one as an advocate, which was my most rewarding. I was told that it had nothing to do with my performance. Any suggestions on how to obtain a position in another area? Such as going from strictly customer service and sales to advocate and claims? Thanks

I work in insurance. I was working for an Allstate agent and was fired the day after my grandmothers funeral for being “unenthusiastic in our morning meeting”. Now I’m having anxiety searching for a job. I don’t think I want to sell anymore yet every single recruiter I interview with says I should, that I have a “salesperson mentality”. I’m burnt out. Has anyone else felt this way? How did handle it? Is there a different career path I can take or am I destined to sell insurance forever?

This is an important detail for me since I am expecting this year. I have received in email that for parents who have a child *before* 1 year, that they are eligible for STD after 3 mnths at 100% for 6 weeks (+3weeks of approved PTO). is there fine print that pregnancy is a ‘pre-existing condition’ and I’d be denied?

Do you feel like women are underrepresented in the insurance industry? I work with a ton of great women and didn't really think much about it until I spoke to a friend who also works in office, she says there are like 5-10 female employees out of over 100 CSM's. If you think there are less women in insurance than men, why do you think that is?
