Just started at a small, early stage VC. SO is applying to bschool so potentially moving to a new city next summer. How difficult is it to lateral to a different fund with 1 year of investing exp?

Am I the only one that runs into this? Halfway into an interview it’s apparent you know the role better than the hiring manager does. As soon as this happens I always feel like I am wasting my time because I know they’re likely going to look for a less experienced candidate. Unfortunately I don’t have the years of experience for senior manager/director roles so it seems I run into this very often for manager level roles.

Current B4 senior getting promo’d to manager. Have an offer to join a smaller firm (BDO, Grant Thornton, etc) as a Senior consultant for 1 year with expectation that I’d promo to manager next year. New salary would be higher even as a senior vs what I’d make as B4 manager. New B4 salary would be 105k. New salary trajectory is 110k this year to 120+ next year. What do I give up by leaving B4?

Any thoughts on when making a lateral move as a mid-level litigation associate will be feasible again? I want to make a change, but (for obvious reasons) I worry firms may not be looking for any more mouths to feed at this time.

After nearly 20 years in the military serving in T&E and HR roles, I’m considering moving on and have been conducting lots of research into consulting. BS, MA, and SPHR cert - no MBA. I’m looking for suggestions or advise about transitioning. DC Metro area is likely landing spot.

The top most reason for me planning to immigrate to Canada is money. As I read more about the salaries and expenses in this country, I realise that although you can spend your life comfortably here but you can not save enough money to send back home. Is it true?

Can we expect 80% hike after 6 months in the current organization. I'm not actually planning to move out because of of hike, but because of the project which I got in which I'm not comfortable with. I'm interested to stay in the organization. But my supervisor said I have to stay in this project for atleast 5 years and HR asked to stay for atleast 2 years which I feel would loose my career.

So I’m currently a Sr. PM at Amazon and I’m wondering if I would be a higher or lower level title at a startup? I assume I should be a higher title (like Director or VP) since I’d be moving from a huge company to a tiny one.
