Currently interviewing with Facebook (Meta) and looking for advice from other Technical Recruiters that recently joined. I’d be leaving a great company after less than 1 year, but I’d get the chance to upgrade my leveling (perhaps even mgmt) with the bonus of getting experience at a FAANG company. Need some advice here.I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future even for an ML role?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Google Microsoft Adobe Citi Barclays Bank of America

Need help from Amazon 🐠 Anyone interviewed for Amazon L5 BIE in GSF supply chain team? The JD said basic qualifications include data modeling, ETL, data warehousing and optimization. Any idea or experience how they will test these topics? Asking about related experience? Or show some data and ask how you will deal with that? Or like a case study, given a senario and ask how you think in order to tackle problem? Need advice/idea/experience urgently. Thanks in advance.Amazon @BIE

Yes, don’t get discouraged! It takes a minimum of 6-12 months to feel like you know what’s going on average
😬 I'll be honest I took me til year 2.5 for me to pause and feel like "oh, yeah I know who to talk to when for a variety of what's"
I affectionately call what you are in the firehose stage, because you're getting blasted with so much information it's like someone told you to take a drink and then hit you with the force of water from a firehose. For the first little while you feel lucky just not to drown, but you are soaking up a ton of information every day, and eventually you'll notice that you're not so overwhelmed.
100% this, it happens to literally everyone and it can be very overwhelming at first, but you just gotta take it one day at a time and know that you'll catch up soon enough
This is normal in most tech companies from my experience. Take your time and don't feel pressured to catch up
This is definitely normal. There’s a sharp learning curve. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
What documents? Documents can be leaked, so most things are tribal knowledge unless it’s API docs.
I felt like I had to keep up with a consistent amount of coffee chats in order to get a handle on the 'tribal knowledge'
I had the same experience when I started! I actually used flash cards to learn new acronyms more quickly and it ended up being really helpful.
I am starting with Apple in oct tech support what advise can you give me for just starting out
Super normal and just went through it myself, took 3 months to get “comfortable”, just have to take it a day at a time and don’t try to learn everything all at once 🙏🏽
It's like trying to take a sip of water out of a fire hose, isn't it??? Don't give up. It'll all make sense eventually. For now, just take it one day at a time and do your best.
If you are inundated with the acronyms, there is a shortcut to help with the jargon.
