Don't be hesitant to ask questions internally, observe top sales people to learn their styles and develop your own! Be curious and have tough skin and take no BS. You got this! As someone always told me, it'll go through peaks and valleys but as long as you keep your head down and feet moving and don't isolate yourself you'll get the support you need to succeed! Win as a team lose as a team. Good luck!!

Try not to take rejection personally. It's hard, but it's par for the course. Once I accepted that fact, I got much more fulfillment/enjoyment out of my job.

I live on LinkedIn, not just for prospects and following their companies, but also a few sales folks who lift me up and provide great ideas. Not everything is transferable but the principles generally are. Don't know if you're remote but this kind of "community" and outside thinking has been invaluable. A few:

Best lesson learned - Sales results are a result of three levers: quantity, quality and priority. Figure out how to move those levers. Quantity is often the easier one, this is basically how many leads you contact, opps you open, meetings you have etc. Quality is your actual sales skills, knowing how to structure your pitch, how well you listen, how good you are at moving the customer through attention, interest and desire towards action. Finally priority is knowing which accounts to disqualify and which to focus on. If you know your levers, you can control your results.

And always - ALWAYS - be humble and nice to your Presales. They are your ride and die.

Confidence. Fake it until you make it if you don’t have a lot of it. In tech, a heavily male dominated industry, you have to demonstrate and “prove” your ability to lead discussions, speak with executives, and not let the overwhelming masculine energy intimidate you. All with confidence. If someone interrupts you in a rude manner, never be afraid to say “just a second” and finish your thoughts. Command respect, respectfully. Good luck.

I have been doing freelance/independent contract graphic design for 3 years, and I’m looking to take a position as FTE now.

There are a few smaller agencies in my city that I specifically adore and i’ve reached out/applied to open roles etc. One of them I even have a friend at, she has told me they are dying for more designers right now, but also so busy they struggle to make time for the hiring process.

Does anyone have tips on how to get past this sort of wall?

Hey y’all my first “real” job out of university is in sales and I’ve been working at my correct company as an account executive for 2 months. I have good days where I think I’m meant for sales and bad days where I think I’m not cut out. Is that normal when starting out? I just hope I’m not making a wrong career move

I’m a female CAD employee working for a US company. I was poached from a competitor a couple of years ago and was offered more than my male colleague (US based) at the time of the offer so my boss brought him up after the fact to ensure fairness. He started a couple weeks before me. Fast forward to now, and my male colleague and I are both being considered for promotions, with me getting a higher role based on my efforts/performance, but less pay in USD terms. Excuse was location is the factor..

Good morning everyone! I have a interview as a account executive position for innovation refunds, that pays 100k + and I’m super nervous to have a interview it’s been so long ! Lol but I was wondering how can I tell what kind of environment it is, and what should I look out for? I just really don’t want to go to a sales job that’s cut throat and competitive where everyone is against each other. Working remotely now I don’t have that it’s very laid back. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi all! I could use some advice! I’ve been in software sales for 8 years now, plus another 10 years spent in Asset Management (changed careers in 2015).

About a year ago, I turned down a role from Saleforce bc I took a job with a “hedge fund”. Unfortunately, i learned later the company didn’t exist - a con man story (not worth explaining). I did a poor job of maintaining a relationship with the SFDC manager, whom I really liked, and now I’m without a job. And advice on reconnecting ?

I am currently a restaurant manager. There are two of us who got promoted at the same time. Shortly after, the other manager moved in with the GM (both female). The GM is also best friends with the higher up’s wife. I am not close with anyone. I come to work to do my job, not create friendships. Especially not that close of friendships. I am treated differently for sure. My work is nitpicked and constantly negatively criticized. I want to do well and succeed, but I feel like an outcast. Help?

Hey everyone,
I have a second round interview with a saas company selling education software. This interview will be a 30 minute zoom call with the VP of sales. I am someone from a non- traditional background with 2 years of sales-ish roles but no experience in tech sales and no straight forward sales job.
I did a tech sales bootcamp. Im just worried about what questions he will ask me? Im thinking more technical in terms of sales processes and even sales funnels? Any thoughts?
