I'd say live with parents until after the winter

like

Live with parents through the winter. In the spring you can potentially sublease or Airbnb in the city for a few months. Limited commitment and you get the social life that you want.

like

Stay home and save the money. NYC is expensive and you’ll want those savings. If you want to move to NYC sooner than a year from now, move here in May/June when it’s a little more fun and lively here!

like

What social life? NYC is dead right now. Stay with parents, come later.

like

yeah NYC life is certainly not the one we want that’s filled with meeting new people all the time (rip) but it’s not so bad, you can still go grab food/drinks outside with people you care about who are available to spend time safely. And/or spend time indoors with them when it’s safe.

like

If you can wait till March, do your best to stick it out. You’ll thank yourself when you have the savings

like

See my comment above OP

Save. Your. Money. Nyc is dead anyways. You’ll be happy when you look at your account in six months

depends on how bad your life at home is, and how good your city life could be. i’m staying in the city bc i have a better support system here than at my parents so my mental health is worth the cost. but if staying home for you isn’t so bad then i’d agree just do it and take some road trips to visit friends to get you through the winter

like

I’d say stay with your parents if it’s a mentally sound situation. NYC is not the same city as it used to be, so be sure to really research the neighborhood you want to live in and what it looks like right now. Personally, I’m toying with the idea of relocating near my parents where it is cheaper because at this point, there’s not a lot to do in NYC anymore as social distancing is the priority. Saving money so I can come back is what I’m trying to do!

Okay. Uhhh. Idk who these people are above here, but NYC is a blast right now.. presuming you have friends from college here. Yeah clubs and indoor bars are closed & it’s getting colder, but I would much much rather be here than at home. Dating apps are doing well, rooftop parties doing well, plenty of restaurants building intense outdoor dining structures to prepare for the winter... speaking of the winter, Xmas in the city is gorgeous. Bryant park is opening soon. NYC is far from dead

Message me!

You won’t have a social life if you come now. Stay there

I just moved here and I love it

Why do you need to decide now for March?

Any tech recruiters in here? My wife has just completed her MS in Cybersecurity and has been working in UHC for 10 years, currently a research analyst. Like most of the agencies, we were operating in a high touch environment with our clients to grow business. And in 2020 everyone understood the need to operate remotely and focused on getting the work done. However a lot of sales/opportunities for growth were discovered in informal coffee/lunch sessions with clients. I wonder how are all of you engaging with clients in a remote set up. Would love to hear everyone’s experiences..
