Just wondering if anyone else has gone through the process and is currently working at Monitor. I wanted to understand about the projects, hierarchy and overall culture at Monitor. To all questioning. It’s NY culture. Transferred from another city to NY and regret it. It’s very much a live to work attitude, everyone’s meaner and hates their lives. The “pay increase” I got is wiped away by the cost of living.
NYC office is by far the worst in the country... Sorry
Pretend to be the best, thats what half of the folks are doing, fake it till you make it
My experience of working in NY is that they deem you an idiot until you prove otherwise. I’m used to working where you’re ok until you prove you’re an idiot.
They don’t say if you can make it here you can make it anywhere for nothing.
As a lifelong NYC native, I’d say that it does take some getting used to and it’s definitely not for everyone. But, if you make it through six months you might come to love it like I do, warts and all. In any case, good luck!
I feel like people always say NY are meaner, but I prefer honestly to the fake politeness in other parts of the country. It’s definitely not for everyone and a lot of people seem to use it as a launch pad for their careers
You are not in Kansas anymore darling and welcome 😂
^ clearly your opinion can’t be trusted or you don’t know where to go. This is straight up blasphemy.
Work hard play harder. Havana cafe has the best mojitos
Yeah it’s tough here, but once we accept you as one of us it’s a good feeling. Like passing hell week in the SEALS 😋.
Pizza and the bagels are overrated
That place is a literal hell. It's as if none of them realize we're all just accountants & none of this will ever matter.
Where are you coming from? What’s been the biggest challenge? Started a year ago in New York, and not sure if I dislike public accounting or just the nyc culture. I’m from the west
PwC NY is a soulless machine. Hours in commute, lunch in front of your laptop, constant state of stress, ruthless competition and insane turnover rates. But hey, best pizza and great shopping!😉
Step 1: Network - preferably a Partner. Ask them to get Lunches - trust me they don’t care, it’s free for them.
Step 2: Make sure the partner puts you on his accounts. If they like you - you get easier accounts with good teammates. Your review will be great because the partner placed you there. The partner also now trusts you - because you are indebted to him. This will also make you work more motivated knowing it’s the account of someone who stuck their neck out for you

Goodluck, it’s a harsh environment starting from the moment you step out your front door
You softies, we ain’t cut the same.
I like the diversity and challenging work in NYC office
