I am not trying to time the bond market but am worried about the risks that come along with it . I would rather be in equities or a money market

If you are expecting rates to go up, expect long term bond funds to drop. Maybe use short or intermediate term instead? They will probably go down but not as much? Does your 401k have a stable value option? Look at its rate and see if it if good. With the bond funds remember that the price is going down when interest goes up but the yield starts going up too. In the long run the current drop doesn’t matter unless you are trying to time the bond market

Preferred shares are similar to bonds but won't decline in value if rates rise. They are sort of a cross between common stock and bonds. I often recommend PFFD

I'm new to the corporate world. I make 55k per year as an EA. House payment 500/mo. All insurance (not including health) $1200 in set monthly expenses, some small random medical bills & a 23k medical bill when my husband had a heart attack & we had no insurance. I max my hsa & 11% goes to my 401k each check. I have 7k in savings. Where do I start? Idk how to invest or how to even begin building wealth in my situation. Can someone please help me? I'm 48yo. Getting a very late start!

I’m 30, with no kids, currently paying $540/mo for a whole life insurance policy through my advisor (family friend, mind you) at NWM. No debt, investing 2k a month into other more traditional investments (e.g., 401k, ira). I care less about the death benefit but I’ve been repeatedly reminded about the guaranteed RoR associated with the cash value - does this investment vehicle make sense to continuing with? TIA!

I have 2years left before I reach the rule of 85 and can fully retire. (In NE, your age plus years of service must equal 85 to qualify for early retirement). I will be 54 years old. I am hoping for some advice. I was a young mom (17 when pregnant) and ended up having three kids by 23. I’ve since pulled myself up by my boot straps and am doing well in my career and have seen good trajectory. The thing is, it’s always nagged at me that I never went to college. I don’t want to go to college in the traditional sense but my new employer offers some tuition reimbursement (if related to the job). I’m in tech, specifically software. What should I look into?
