Wonât it go back down again once youâre better?
You might have lost some, but unless you have long covid, your RHR and other functions will comme back pretty close to baseline after sickness - just like any other sickness. I was pretty hardcore in triathlon and Ironman with a 40 resting HR, was sick one day (severe food poisoning) - RHR up to 60+++ (actually this let me know a few hours before I actually got sick that something was happening). A few days after symptoms subsided completely to get back to broadly normal (a bit of lost fitness but was working out 25h per week at the time so came back quickly). No stress !!!
This is likely temporary and isnât uncommon when youâre sick
Yeah COVID spike is temporary. Here is mine
Thatâs not because of Covid. Thatâs the Sunday scaries
Itâll come back down. Mine did the exact same thing. My resting is in the mid/upper 40s and for the Covid week it went up to mid 60s. Itâs back down to 50 today. I restarted my exercise routine yesterday after 3 weeks, so I expect it to drop those last few points in the next few days.
Stay on that grind!! True happiness is found at RHR below 40
What changes did you make to improve your cardiovascular health?
1st walking, then I bought a peloton. And eating out a lot less, though still not eating the best. I know everyone have a peloton at this point, but I've really loved it and seen results
Took more than a couple of days, but my metrics are back now. Thanks y'all!
Thank you both! That's comforting information
Great news! Metabolic gains are the easiest to get back once youâre better.
I recovered from covid 2 weeks ago and everything is back to normal. Just did record pace 5k. I had 4-5 days of cold symptoms, and 4-5 days afterwords for fatigue and bad cough . Day 10 I was back 100%. I was single dose j&j.
