Keep on getting in trouble because I keep working over 40 hours. How does someone get punished for wanting to help the company out more?

Because you're eating into your partner's margin and your partner owns the company and doesn't look like he or she is as productive of an owner if his or her margin is low.

Are you OT eligible?

You are setting precedence on being flexible on hours, which means giving client freebies. We are running a business here, not charity.

A1 omg how did you know?

EY, that makes sense. I dont even care about getting OT, i just wanted more time to get deliverables in and polished

^This ain't the post office 🙄

We've had this debate a million times. OP how new are you?

We aren't union workers, dude.

Hello, after doing some research I believe I’m being underpaid. About 4 months ago HR did a market analysis for my role. They bumped my salary for about $2k. I’m a mid-level Executive assistant with 6 years of experience and currently supporting 5 executives at a fortune 50 company. One C level and 4 Vice Presidents. I’m currently making $61,000 with bonus included. Based on my research I should at least be making $71,400. I have a check in with my boss tomorrow and I am asking for a raise.

How do you advocate for a "level" promotion in a company that has vague unofficial descriptions of levels? I'm doing L4-5 (on standard levels, or L3 within our system) work but can't get away from the unofficial "L2".

Making 140k with 7 yrs experience in this role, and 12 prior years experience in Systems Engineering roles. I know someone on my team is at 180k with a similar career.

Hi there,
I’m a bit newer to data science and recently read through a few academic case studies on ethical fairness in ML/modeling. Would love to start a thread to hear some more from data scientist/ML perspective.
The most harmful example I came across was bias in ML for the criminal justice system.

Is anyone currently in a data science/ML position willing to share their thoughts/maybe an example based on experience? Thinking about how to actively prevent this kind of bias in future models
