Yeah I echo another comment. I love the lakefront trail in winter because there's way less people. Where it gets dicey is when there's been recent snowfall (they actually do a pretty good job at plowing it) and if the spray from the lake gets bad, it gets really icey

For the shoulder months of winter, sure. In the middle of winter the trail is covered in snow and ice. Keep riding the trail until you feel the conditions are unsafe.
They actually clean it and salt it more religiously than they do my street.

depends how much snow and what kind of bike - if you’re on a gravel or fat bike you can go later as well.
the park district does a surprisingly good job of keeping the LFT clear of snow and ice. people will post the status of it on twitter with the hashtag #chilft
As others have said, recent snowfall and more so ice and spray form the lake is the biggest concern. Some areas I would avoid all together - by Oak St Beach for example, but when the path is a bit further form the lake, it’s fine as long as your extremities are properly clothed.
