No, no. Hope for a good raise and quit after you get it because you want to.

Lol this is my first job out of college so I’m extremely conflict avoidant!

Got a raise, will be quitting before 2021 ends regardless

It is an incredible job market right now, if you aren’t happy pull the trigger and go find something you will love doing

I’m not getting a raise ☹️

Do you deserve one?

You want a higher raise so that you can use that as a potential leverage for a future employer to offer that much.

Just start applying and use the expected post-raise salary as your starting point. You’ll end up landing something better than what you have or may have if you wait around. This is an effective conflict avoidance strategy 😂

Hypothetical that I'm trying to quantify for myself. Say I make $100k and feel I can comfortably spend $2k on rent. Assume for arguments sake, I'm happy at this level with savings, social life, etc. I get a raise to $120k. What can I now afford in rent? A) $2.4k. I got a 20% raise, so I can spend 20% more in rent. B) $3.6k. I got a $20k raise, so I can spend $1.6k (rounded) more in rent. C) Somewhere in the middle Traditional thinking tells me A is correct, but it seems conservative.
