I have a call with a big 4 recruiter for a position that Im not very interested in but applied due to having a referral for it while not having a referral for the position I actually wanted because its entry level analyst. Is it a bad idea to ask them about the other position and try to get my foot in the door that way?

(1) I recently interviewed for a senior auditor position at a company and hadn’t heard back from them so I followed up. The recruiter’s response was that I was still being considered for the position but the team had moved forward with other candidates that were better suited due to their experience.
