There is not such a thing a decent recruiter. They all looking after their commission. If you are on top of your game, they will treat you well. But again you are really good, you don’t need them.
Having worked with some of the independent recruiters in SF I’m afraid I agree with the above - there’s no good headhunters in SF. Part of it is because SF is a very small ad community it’s best to get a direct in with a creative at the agency it’s just a different game there. Now Chicago and NY is different there’s a few decent headhunters there that recruit for top agencies but that’s because those creative markets are much bigger. SF just doesn’t have any decent ones because there are way less agency creative gigs in circulation so they tend to look for direct recommendations. Not meaning to sound jaded I worked in SF agencies for 6 years, then I moved because it was getting just too hard to move around there and the pay doesn’t cover the rising cost of living 🤷🏼♀️
Been looking for the same. There are not many.
Check out LinkedIn Sales Recruiter and is wit proactively to pursue both CD’s and recruiters. It’s a tough market, but persistency and a good book will pay off eventually.
Also go to events. Get out and network. Start your own events and invite people out. Lots of creative ways to put yourself in a room with the people you want to meet, even if it’s not for an interview right off the bat.
