It’s one of those traits that may make him a good employee but not necessarily a good manager/leader. Being scrappy and cutthroat undoubtedly helped him to get to his current seat, but he needs to tone that down a bit to advance further

like

In order to advance and ultimately lead a team, you need to start checking that petty shit at the door. If you have legitimate work-related gripes about people, address those in a tactful way and also think about what you could do to help As a leader, you really do set the tone for the culture and the productivity for the team, so put your best foot forward.

If all else fails - if everyone this person meets is an asshole, maybe he/she is the asshole...

helpful

If I’m understanding correctly - you’re wondering why this guy is still unhappy even when he’s making some good moves. Nothing is going to be 100% perfect, 100% of the time

^spot on ET, as always. Not unhappy, but seems like building up success by sacrificing others tbh. Maybe it’s guilt? I’m not quite sure

^ET, what would advance you further and what kind of essential skills you see to assemble a winning team?

Anyone happy with where they're at and don't want to climb the ladder?

I'm a C-level and make just about 6 figures annually. I don't live in a high cost of living area (it's moderate) and don't have a ton of expenditures. I live VERY comfortably and have investments as well. I cringe everytime I have to list out "professional goals" or promotional timelines to aim for.

I don't want the promo, just give me my annual raise and let me cruise and enjoy life. Any firms that embraces that mentality?

Are there really that many positions that offer >$300k TC? Made 290 last year, with another promotion in next year or two I should be solidly above 300k. Feels like I am quickly pricing myself out of many exit opportunities, with the exception of startups with significant equity upside.

I am currently in state tax and am up for a promotion to senior next spring. As I have done a few interviews to test the water I have left feeling like my state experience isn’t highly valued outside of public accounting. I currently have an opportunity to stop working with our state team and transition to international/transfer pricing, mergers and acquisitions, or our indirect tax teams. Which of these is most valuable in industry?

Hi Nagarrians,

I had an appraisal in January and I wasn't happy with it. So, I raised a ticket. In meeting HR agreed to increase my CTC to the amount I had asked.
But I realised I had asked for less as my other friends have been offered more here and outside nagarro.

Should I raise the ticket again? If yes, what should I say?

Income: $200k or $8.8k net per month. Of that $8.8k…
20% goes to mortgage and recurring utilities and car insurance
45-55% discretionary spending including food, drinks, gas, clothing, retail, leisure, etc.
25% to savings (HYS)
8% to brokerage and crypto

In addition, I max out Roth 401k and HSA. The $8.8k in income per month is after those are funded.

Next raise should put me at a base of $230k-ish.

I’m updating my resume and I’m wondering what HR people are actually looking for/care about? If I have had two jobs out of college (graduated 2020), should I still put down my internships? Does it matter if I put down Microsoft proficient or is that just assumed now? Does the award I earned in high school for community service matter?
Thanks :)
