Some tax MDs are in the 400-550 range for base salary ive heard. W-2 comp.
IMO they give out specialist designation to too many that don’t even have specialized skillsets

Equity only goes to partners.
I don’t know if they are called specialist MDs, but can’t imagine why they would.
MDs don’t get equity. Some are highly compensated, but not equity.
MDs can go way above $500 as well.
In a Big4 - no one 'Gets' equity. One needs to buy it. Only partners can (mostly have to) buy equity. So unlike a public corp - there is no RSU etc.
Do specialist get evaluated differently from traditional consultants? Like do they have different performance metrics?
Hypothetically, let's say someone had a position in government (either related to tax policy or for the SEC). Assuming they don't come in as a partner but as an MD or D (could be due to age, ie. over 53 years old), how would their incoming comp be structured at a B4 firm? I always assumed something well about new partner comp plus a sign-on bonus of $50K or more.
Other than equity, everything is on the table.
