Got an offer as an experienced consultant at another Big 4 in Canada for $57K CAD. Am I being low-balled?
Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
Ok, so I really like my team and am on track so far for a promo next year. However, I'm not ok with the lack of compensation. Should I jump ship now for another B4 with the promo and much more pay? Or should I just suck it up and wait it out?
Anyone go from a big 4 to a boutique? Pros/cons?
Anyone made the jump from one big 4 firm to another and if so were you required to divulge the firm you were leave for? Also were you given the opportunity to say goodbye to your colleges? From my understanding as soon as you let your performance manager know you're escorted out of the building.
55-60k as an analyst/associate in admin function at investment bank, or £39-47k as a senior consultant/AM at big 4 in corp restructuring? I’m 23 and no experience in either and can’t make up my mind, please help!
I’m seeing a lot of job req’s for Bain’s Advanced Analytics Group nationwide: does this group operate like a centralized Analytics COE to onsite strategy teams? (I.e. Consultants advise executives/leads on An analytics roadmap, and AAG come in and implement, rather than go with a Big 4 / Indian IT shop?) Thanks guys. Bain & Company
Would you take a B4 offer over AFS (federal)?
Currently B4 tax M2 in the greater Seattle area speaking to a recruiter about opportunities. The recruiter keeps telling me with my YOE (just over 6 years) I should be looking at base of 130k in response to my original 150 - 170k. Should I aim lower? Not sure about the Seattle market.
If you’re planning to leave one big 4 for another and also switch from one service line to another, is it worth asking your current company to make the internal transfer happen instead? It’s something I just recently started looking into and I didn’t mention a word of it on my annual review just recently. It would 100% come out of left field and I almost feel like they would at a minimum want me to do another busy season in audit before making it happen. Almost feel like a clean break is easier.
What are the exit opportunities for management consultants (US office based) in India (apart from other Big 4, MBB) ? What are the profiles that one could go for?
I feel so lost in my career. I have three years of B4 experience (1 year audit, 2 years risk compliance) and I absolutely hate what I do. I’m a high performer yet I have zero motivation. I don’t see myself becoming partner & I also dont see myself being a controller/CFO in industry. I feel like I made the wrong choice but accounting is all I know. Anyone else go thru this? What type of role/industry did you pivot to?
B4 advisory to M7? Is this possible/common?
Those who have done AML case reviews at a Big 4. 1- Is the work easy? 2- Are your days predictable? 3- Are the hours long? 4- Is there any client interaction? 5- What exit opportunities are possible afterwards? 6- Is it as close to a comfortable 9-5 job within consulting?
I am having 7 yrs of experience.- B.tech work profile- Dot net full stack(angular) & Azure PaaS, Current is 17.5 LPA What salary I can expect (min max, avg) in big 4. Also EY vs Deloitte, which pay more for senior consultant. Thanks !
Please be kind, genuinely looking for help. Started my Grad School journey and really want an idea of the quality of school I can realistically aim for. My profile: M / 27 / AA 3.1 GPA Frm a State university 6 YOE (3 in Big 4 Consulting) Active in community Prez of a few orgs Frm Chicago 100% open to relocate 1st practice GRE: 304 (151- V / 153 Q) Looking to pursue a tech mgmt concentration.
Do companies weigh certs more than hands-on experience? (ie: open source contributions, projects, etc) Asking b/c I'm joining big 4 in cyber and wanted to know whether I should prioritize certs over developing my skillet through projects? Thanks
Anyone else feel like all the travel has made you immune to getting sick? Everyone I know with a ‘normal’ job has a cold or the flu.
Looking to vacation next summer in Greece and Italy with the fam. When you all book on bonvoy points do you reserve the room just for yourself or do put the actual number of people? When I search for just 2 people staying the room, there is availability to use bonvoy points. When I search for 3 people(6y/o kid) nothing is available. The same in Athens, Rome & Naples.
I don’t know about you guys, but I feel that everything is negative in this industry. The only solution people have for the problems at work is drinking and complaining. Who else is sick of that?
Good day, I have 15 years combined experience in workforce/human capital/HRBP after transitioning from a psychosocial background. The last 10 years, I have been overseas and while I am looking for opportunities globally, I am open to returning to the US for either remote work or something in the warmer states. Been having a difficult time getting noticed despite having worked with multinational companies including INGO. Any leads, insights would be appreciated.
This might be for the Exit Opportunity bowl, but wondering if anyone had insight into the Cigna Enterprise Strategy group? I don't have many contacts in the US and don't have a sense for what the internal strategy roles at the large health insurers are like, but I saw a posting recently and was immediately tempted. I'm at ~7 YOE made up of Big 4 and now at a boutique firm.
We’re going back to WFH by default starting Monday (London-based) and I am dreading it as I live alone and will stew in my thoughts (I had an almost mental breakdown during lockdown last year). Beyond seeking medical help (which I’ve been planning to carve out time to speak to insurers about once M&A actually starts to slow down) just… what do I do sigh
TBWA\CD, Leo, CP+B, Media Arts Lab. This week has been a layoff shitshow. Hope all those affected land on their feet soon!
New AC currently doing internal work. While I understand it’s good to be seen around the office, would I leave a negative impression if I WFH until 2022 due to worsening covid situation and Christmas?
I am teaching a week long summer course for students with ASD. I will be leading a morning meeting for 30-60 minutes daily, then meeting with each student for 30 minutes daily, all over Zoom. I need ideas for how to make morning meeting meaningful for all students. I'll have students in 3rd, 6th, 7th, and 11th grades.
Just applied to be a McKinsey Proposal Specialist. Any insights into how the recruitment process may differ from standard consulting roles? The role is essentially a mix of sales PMO (organizing across sales, legal, design) and writing proposals. Thanks!
Friendly reminder that if your company doesn’t give you at least a 6% raise this year to account for inflation, they’re essentially giving you a pay cut. Time to start looking elsewhere!
IOs in b4 consulting - what was most important in terms of what to know as you landed projects?
If it ever comes to that, would you give up your Indian citizenship to become a US citizen? Or would you just stop at the Green Card?
What happens to the $300 travel credit if you downgrade the sapphire reserve after the annual fee hits? This is assuming you’ve already received the credit
🐠 at EY S&O TAS, hows the culture? Environment? Work life balance? Working hours? Have an offer there and debating whether to take it or not.
Hey 🐠 , female here! wanted to know 1) if being pregnant during promo year affect anything negatively? Coz u ll immediately take maternity leave? 2) can anyone who was in maternity leave for that performance year go up for promotion and get promoted?
