L.E.K. Consulting reached out for a lateral manager role. Tagline: Role that focuses on growth strategy projects as opposed to due diligence, so better WLB. Ok this sounds interesting, but i currently work for a similar T2 strategy shop, similar work. My questions are, what is this deal (truly better WLB?) and what is the typical pay for M/SM?
Don’t forget to ask yourself why it is that we would need to be hiring managers laterally

If you're at PWC/ey and from the posts I've read stay put. LEK apparently has horrible work-life balance
Difference in WLB between DD and strategy is not that significant, especially at the M level given 2 cases at once. Don’t put much stock in that. Otherwise, like everyone else has pointed out, comp is solid, but more difficult managerial role to jump into.
Ms have been having heavier workload. Used to be 2 cases at once but I’ve heard a lot of Ms having to manage 3+. They allocate you 20% to the 3rd one but in reality..works creep up especially when we’ve been having under staffed teams.
I can guarantee your WLB will be worse, especially as you ramp up, but also just in general I feel. Comp will most likely be higher. Average M TC comp is around 325K but potential for higher base in performance
Hours will be worse, but the WLB sell is that you won’t have to travel nearly as much
