Sales engineering seems like an opportunity for strong comp and lower stress compared to consulting. Can anyone share their experience with comp and wlb as a sales engineer?

I'm in a group where I get great reviews each year and earn praise from clients, but partners don't invest much in me or let me work on the "good" deals (I always get the scraps).
