The biggest factor is definitely the neighborhood you're in... I would say 3/day if I'm in the mid-Market / Civic Center / SOMA area. 0 otherwise
I will start, 2-3 times a week on average. >1 more if I visit my friends near civic center without using uber. (And I don’t wear anything that stands out)
Not a bragging post in anyway- want to see how peoples experience here in general
Like 2-3 per day (North Beach/downtown SF area). Dress stylishly but very modestly. Like nothing at all revealing.
Strangers trying to chat you up on the bus, calls of “Morning pretty lady!”, giving you the full body look over, etc.
Yea the residents of TL and civic center are crass. Other parts of SF, not so much…
The 2-3 times exclude mid-market area. I have encountered these at Caltrain stations, muni stations, market street, Chinatown, Richmond, and fidi so far. No other major cities outside of US have I experienced this(maybe except Istanbul)
I’m fat. I’m invisible. It’s great.
Close to none in the marina
You all need to move down south. Zero car calls. Hopefully not because I’m unattractive:(
I'm down south, and I got cat-called yesterday, in the middle of the day, in yoga pants while I was unloading my jeep, and running into a coffee shop 🙄
I don’t know a single guy who has ever catcalled a woman before. And I’m too shy to even say hi or excuse me to a random stranger lol. Does it really happen THAT often?
It’s very unpleasant and uncomfortable. You question your safety. Especially if it’s someone who is on your regular route.
I’ve had guys try to sit next to me on the bus every time they see me on my regular commute.
Essentially it’s unwanted harassment that happens every day.
Does random hi's and excuse me's (to compliment) count? not necessarily cat calls but unwanted nonetheless
Yes. The unsolicited “how are you”, staring too
